The Little White House Emerald

How apt that this gem of a B&B is found in a town called Emerald. An easy hour and a half drive from Melbourne CBD, The Little White House welcomed us with the gas fire burning and music playing in the background.

The first time we stayed here was two years ago. This time, the hedge has grown, making it feel even more private. The sight of its facade and cozy interiors is just as magical, ushering you into a space of rest.

One thing we love about The Little White House (TLWH) is having the whole storybook cottage all to ourselves. Though we love people and meeting hosts in other B&Bs, there’s something special about just opening the door to what feels like your very own holiday home.

This does mean you have to cook your own breakfast but with a dream kitchen to work in, it feels more like a treat than a chore. Now that’s big coming from one who has a love-hate relationship with cooking!

breakfast at The Little White House

TLWH not only comes with generous breakfast provisions (6 eggs, lots of bacon, onions, tomatoes, sourdough bread, milk and orange juice) but also includes  a bottle of wine, snacks and to our delight, Connoisseur’s Vanilla Bean Panna Cotta With Apple Pear & Honey Compote. We’ve never had it before but it’s now on our shopping list!

While the whole house is amazing, this spa bath is impeccable. Perfect views, perfect dimensions and an overall perfect way to relax. Opening the windows for bringing the outdoors in is a must, even on a cold, rainy night. The pitter-patter of the rain and the winter breeze provide a suitable setting for deep & meaningful chats.

Escaping on a weekday will save you $60 off the weekend rate of $300/night. In any case, this place gives you more than what it takes.
